Clips of Kindness®
Complimentary clipper cuts for those fighting cancer
For people going through cancer treatment, the idea of hair loss can be daunting, unsettling, and even isolating. Many patients find it empowering to get a clipper cut, because it allows them to choose when and how they lose their hair. That’s why Great Clips created Clips of Kindness.
How Great Clips supports kids and adults who have cancer
Anyone who is losing their hair due to cancer treatment is welcome to come to any Great Clips salon for a complimentary clipper cut. It’s our way of making this part of the treatment journey just a little bit easier. If you have a family member or loved one who would like a clipper cut, simply call and ask to speak to the salon manager to make arrangements.

The Clips of Kindness story
Inspired by her own battle with cancer, Great Clips Vice Chair of the Board Rhoda Olsen created Clips of Kindness as a meaningful way for Great Clips to join the fight against cancer. In 2010, Rhoda asked Great Clips franchisee Jane Evans to help her develop a charitable program to allow Great Clips stylists to serve others in the way they are most equipped: with their skills as hair stylists.
Less than four months later, Jane was diagnosed with stage 4 metastasized breast cancer, and soon after she found herself getting her own clipper cut. This experience inspired Jane to informally launch what would ultimately become “Clips of Kindness” during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in 2011. Great Clips’s first-ever system wide Great Deeds® program was officially born.
On January 14, 2015, Jane passed away after her battle with cancer. She leaves a legacy of love, friendship, leadership, and inspiration.
